Terre et Crinière - France Moreau at InterContinental Chantilly

Exhibition from September 19 to November 30, 2025

From September 19 to November 30, 2025, InterContinental Chantilly is delighted to host the exhibition Terre et Crinière, showcasing the works of France Moreau.

A sensitive artist attuned to the power of the elements and the dialogue between matter and gesture, France Moreau has long explored the delicate balance between chance and intention. Her artistic journey was shaped by an early initiation into two Japanese practices deeply rooted in Zen philosophy: sumi-e, the art of ink painting where each stroke is a breath, and Gyotaku, the traditional technique of imprinting. Introduced by her father, a martial arts teacher and Zen practitioner, these techniques became an intimate language she has continued to reinvent.

France Moreau enriches these ancestral practices by incorporating earth and natural pigments. These elements introduce randomness, a surprise that transcends the artist’s sole intention. Each attempt, each preserved trace, becomes a ground for exploration until the magic of an instant emerges: a fragile balance, an unexpected harmony.

At the heart of her work are imprints, reservoirs of memory and gestures from which the artist draws to compose her paintings. The alternation between control and release, discipline and abandon, guides this process. Trust is ever-present, serving as the condition for the raw beauty of the present moment to unfold.

With Terre et Crinière, France Moreau invites us to enter a universe where matter comes alive, where the force of nature meets the energy of movement. The horse, a recurring and majestic figure, becomes a symbol of freedom, strength, and harmony – an echo of the natural and equestrian environment that surrounds InterContinental Chantilly.
